When people ask me "what does a DJ do"

"Il`l start by saying its not just about mixing tracks or how you mix records or which order you mix them in, The turntables are an instrument and the ultimate goal is to create something magical with the crowd, to create a natural high and the very least to give you a fecking good time!!!!!"

Ive always been a huge fan of music, when i was a baby (at one year old) I used to play and rewind my favourite songs on a tape deck and even select which tapes they were from a rack. Aparantly my joy of music came from having my cot so close to a speaker, which would keep me quiet. All through my childhood i had a big interest in music, and started playing the piano at 4 years old!!! and then teaching myself from books and tapes and hours of practice. By 8 years old i was playing Unchained melody to my Mum for her birthday on the keyboard with both hands. I bought the music score and after 2 weeks i had learn`t to read music and Mastered the song!. As well as the piano i learn`t how to play the Trumpet.

By the age of 14 i was introduced, by my cousin to a pair of decks and i was fixed from then on! I knew being a dj was what i wanted to do.
For the two years it was more of a hobby and a quessing game, as i didnt` know what i was supposed to be doing (and neither did my friends), after i got my first pair of decks (some horrible pair) i started to practice and nearly enough had to learn myself what beat mixing and scratching was as i had no one to show me, and knew no one who knew how to properly.
Things started off pretty smale scale, like doing Friday nights at the Community centre`s, and schools and Youth clubs.

Then when i got a bit older and started working, with my wage and the help from a princess trust grant, I bought a full DJ rig and started to play out and make money from it.Around this time i was heavely into the Happy Hardcore scene, I thought id never listen to anything else.

THEN 9 years ago my brother took me to Wigan Pier for the first time,

.....and i fell in love. I loved everything about it: The music, The atmosphere, The people, The journey there and I could go on and on, and this is when i decided that this is the route i wanted to go with my djing.

So i started collecting Bouncy house and practising and practising and making contacts with club owners, promoters, dj etc

And things really kicked off from there really, Ive djed at many clubs/pubs up and down the country Ive done Festival:Manchester(and did i poo myself YES) and had a residency at Halifax`s No1 Bouncy and Bassline Venue - Club Nemesis (RIP) Think i fell in love with Nemesis Much as much as i did with the pier. I hope a similar venue opens back up in Halifax Soon!!!

Ive just also started Djing on Halifaxs brand New radio station, so get tuned in EVERY SATURDAY NIGHTS 8-10PM ON 96.7 or listen in online on www.phoenixfm.co.uk
